Gideon Adams is spirited person. He is excited about the Civil War, yet he knows he can't fight. What does he think about the idea of creating a Home Guard? Why does he think that is important?
What about the other people in town? Why do you think they are not as enthusiastic about the idea?

ReplyDeleteI like your ideas. I think that you are right, they should let him and other Black men help fight in the war to free slaves.
I think Gideon feels strong about making a home guard because he feels strong about his home town and doesn't want it to fall into rebel hands even though they are miss treated. I also think he feels strong about a home guard because he doesn't want to be a slave.

I tink Gideon Adams has a great feeling about making a home guard because if it falls into rebel hands they will have to leave. Gideon wants the home guard to be created because he does not want to be a slave because the slaves are miss treated and he does not feel he deserves to be treated that way.

ReplyDeleteGideon was a Black man who wanted to go to the War, but Black were not allowed to fight. So Gideon covered his head with a hat and passed as a White man because light skin.

DeleteThe guard put Gideon Adams into roll book not the big book. The whites were saying that the blacks were cowardly,lazy and disloyal. The people serving in the war that the were put in the roll book was killed in the war or survived the war wasn't going to mean that they were going to be killed it means they were in the war.

ReplyDeleteGideon Adams is a black but his skin is so light that he could be a white as long as people don't see his hair.He wanted to be a home guard because the "city is so vulnerable" and its important because if the city gets attacked the people there won't be ready to defend themselves.

I think him being a Home guard is bad idea because he could be easily killed and the whites could get super mad.

ReplyDeleteI think that having a Home Guard is a good idea because if the Confederate sneak by the Union Army so the Home Guards will be able to stop them until the Union reinforcements arrive. This is important so the South doesn't take over the North.
